While performing the stress test, your body works harder, requires more oxygen and the heart has to pump more blood than usual. The test will show if the blood supply is reduced in the arteries that supply blood to the heart and also helps your doctor determine the art exercise for you.

HOW IS A STRESS TEST PERFORMED?

You are hooked to equipment to monitor your heart and then asked to walk slowly in place on a treadmill. The speed is increased and reduced in between and you might be asked to breathe in a tube for a couple of minutes. Once the stress test is done, you'll be asked to sit or lie down to check your heart and blood pressure.
